Service Readiness Assessment of Communities and Businesses in Pak Ou and Chomphet Districts, Luang Prabang Province

On 05 – 06 October 2022, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICT) in collaboration with Luang Prabang Provincial Department of Information, Culture and Tourism conducted the Service Readiness Assessment of Communities and Businesses in Pak Ou and Chomphet Districts, Luang Prabang Province.

The purpose was to assess the services at the Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project (TIIGP) supported tourist facility areas, such as service readiness, problems, constraints and suggestions from the communities and private sector.

The meetings were chaired by Mr Sounh Manivong, Project Director, Second Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project (TIIGP 2) and Ms Phonemaly Inthaphome, Director General, Tourism Development Department, MICT and Project Manager, TIIGP 2.

Communities and village authorities at Pak Ou and Xang Hai villages presented the current tourism situation, operation and maintenance of parking area, tourist information center, toilet and other project supported facilities.

Xieng Mene and Chan Neua villages, Chomphet district explained about the tourism situation, ferry and boat crossing services, operation and maintenance of visitor information center, community market, pottery center and other businesses.

Tourism Related SMEs Development Plan will be developed based on this assessment and will be implemented in 2023 onwards.
